University student victim of hit-and-run

A university student from Toronto was identified as the victim of a hit-and-run accident. According to a witness the victim was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of Huron and College streets when she was hit by a northbound vehicle and traveling in the southbound lanes. The incident happened early in the morning. The police believed that the driver was drunk when the accident happened.

According to the professor and principal of the university, the victim was just finishing her four years of studies. She has passion for social justice and her parents are proud of her because she wants changes in the world. Other students in the university describe the victim as a “kind soul” who always put others before herself. She cared for people around her than herself. She is also known for her volunteerism. The victim was one of the most humble people and she devotes herself and making other people feel valued said a childhood friend of the victim.

The witness started looking for her in the area and started giving first aid to the victim while waiting for the paramedics to arrive.

The victim grew up in Ottawa and studying Ethics, Society and Law at the University of Toronto. And she plans to continue her studies at Law School. She spends much of her time by doing volunteer work and worked with Relay for Life since she was in high school.

According to a witness, the driver of the vehicle left the area after the crash. The witness saw everything that happened to the student. The student was thrown behind construction cladding and finally beside a dumpster inside the construction area. The witness started looking for her in the area and started giving first aid to the victim while waiting for the paramedics to arrive. The victim was brought to a trauma center for severe injuries. She suffered from the injuries for five days and eventually died.

According to the police they found the vehicle driven by the suspect in the Spadina Road and Eglinton Avenue in Forest Hill. The suspect is a 19 year old man from Mississauga and charged with drunk driving. The man is also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and causing body harm; criminal negligence and cause bodily harm; impaired operation of a motor vehicle and causing bodily harm; failing to stop after an accident and causing bodily harm and over 80 mgs operation of a motor vehicle and causing bodily harm or driving a vehicle while the blood alcohol level is above the normal limit of 80 mg.
