Woman helps a shooting victim, ends up in the line of fire

A woman named Danielle Kane together with her boyfriend was having dinner at an Italian Restaurant on Danford Avenue. They heard sounds like fireworks down the street. The wait staff of the restaurant told us that there was a gunman in the area and we should go inside. A terrified woman entered the restaurant and announced that a person was injured outside. The boyfriend of Kane, who works as an emergency room nurse, went out and provides first aid to the injured person. Kane also decided to go out of the restaurant and help her boyfriend.

On the line

According to Kane, I have taken one or two steps out of the restaurant when I saw a person across the street. The man had his arms down and suddenly he raised his arm up with a gun in his arms. Then Kate realized he was the gunman. The gunman started firing. In a few minutes Kate became one of the 15 victims of the shooting and claimed the lives of an 18 year old woman named Reece Fallon and Juliana Kozis a 10 year old girl.  A bullet hit the stomach and diaphragm of Kate and shattered an area of her spine. Her boyfriend together with other bystanders transferred Kate inside the restaurant and immediately provided first aid on Kate. Finally the paramedics and police arrived and brought Kate immediately to the hospital for further treatment and she was scheduled with 3 surgeries.
